FROM THE LEADERSHIP TEAM

From the Principal

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Community Members

Last night, I was delighted to attend my very first St Patrick’s School Concert at the Woodville Town Hall. This year’s concert, themed Big Top Bop A Looza, was a vibrant and entertaining celebration that showcased the creativity and talent of our students. The energy and dedication from our students were truly inspiring, and it was wonderful to see so many families in attendance.

Sincere thanks to Ms Cynthia Smoljan, who coordinated this special event for our school. Special thanks also to our dedicated staff team for their organisation and for supporting our students’ performances. We are also grateful to Groundforce Studios, who assisted with choreography and taught our students their dance routines.

We are incredibly proud of our students for their hard work, enthusiasm, and outstanding performances that made the evening such a memorable success.

Whole School Transition Visits

We will be facilitating whole-school transition visits for the 2026 classes on Wednesday, 3rd December during Lessons 4 and 5. During this time, all students will have the opportunity to visit their classroom for next year and meet their new teacher.

We kindly ask parents to ensure students are present on this day, as these visits help ease the transition and build confidence for the year ahead.

Open Morning

We will be holding an Open Morning on Thursday 27th November at 9:30am.

Please invite other friends and family to attend a School Tour and Morning Tea with the new principal, Mrs Catherine O’Dea.

Exciting Changes Coming to St Patrick’s!

We’re thrilled to share that St Patrick’s will soon have a fresh new look that will make a beautiful impression for everyone entering or passing by our school.
This term, we’ve been working on exciting plans to improve the front of our school.

These include:

  • A new entrance at the school gates
  • Productive garden beds for hands-on learning
  • A peaceful shelter for reflection and community connection

Our goal is to create a welcoming, sustainable, and tranquil outdoor space for students, families, and visitors. These plans are available to view in the front office.

This project will not only enhance the beauty of our school grounds but also provide opportunities for students to learn through gardening and enjoy a calm space during breaks.

Big Top Bop A Looza - A Night to Remember!

On Tuesday, 18th November, our end-of-year concert Big Top Bop A Looza lit up the Woodville Town Hall with colour and excitement! Students wowed the audience with energetic dance routines and creative performances, showcasing their hard work and enthusiasm.

A big thank you to Ms Cynthia Smoljan for coordinating this event, our dedicated staff for their support, and Groundforce Studios for their choreography expertise. We are so proud of our students for making the night such a memorable success!

Last week, ten proud St Patrick’s students graduated from the Children’s University program at the iconic Bonython Hall, University of Adelaide. This achievement reflects their commitment to learning beyond the classroom and embracing new opportunities to grow.

Congratulations to our graduates: Alana, Ayanna, Gautham, Mamadu, Siddharth, Ashmann, Sukhman, Monique, Ramon, and Ritvik for their dedication and enthusiasm!

Children’s University inspires curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning that lasts a lifetime. If you’re interested in your child joining this amazing program in 2026, keep an eye out for announcements early next year—it’s a fantastic opportunity for growth and enrichment!

Arch D Podcasting Awards - Congratulations Ava!

Podcasting is a fantastic opportunity for our Year 5/6 students. In Term 1, students took part in podcast workshops, and later, Ava and Hamish attended the Podcast Leaders Day in June, collaborating with students from other schools to create unique episodes.

We are thrilled to share that at the Arch D Podcasting Awards on Sunday, 16th November, Ava won the award for Most Creative Podcast.

This award celebrates the most entertaining episode that went “outside the box” in ideas, script, structure, interviewing, or storytelling, showcasing the LLL Capability: Knowledgeable, Inquisitive & Innovative.

If you’d like your child in year 5/6 to be part of this exciting program in 2026, please speak to us, it’s an incredible way to build confidence and communication skills!

Social media age restrictions and your family

From 10 December 2025, many social media platforms won’t be allowed to let Australians under 16 create or keep an account.

The changes aim to protect under-16s from pressures and risks they can be exposed to while logged in to social media accounts. These come from design features in the platforms that:

  • encourage them to spend too much time on screens - for example, by prompting them with streams of notifications and alerts, and pressuring them to view disappearing content
  • increase the likelihood of exposure to negative, upsetting or manipulative content served up in their feeds by algorithms.

These features have been linked to harms to health and wellbeing - including increased stress levels, and reduced sleep and concentration.

RECEPTION AS

In Reception, we have been learning about the season of Advent

Advent is a special time of waiting and preparing for the birth of Jesus. We explored the four Advent candles and their themes, beginning with Hope. The children shared things they hope for and discussed ways they can bring hope to others through kind words and helpful actions. This week, we are learning about Peace. Together, we have been brainstorming simple ways to show peace at school, at home, and in the community, through calm choices, gentle voices, and caring for one another. As a class, we have explored the Advent wreath which symbolises God’s endless love for us, with no beginning or end. In the coming weeks, we will learn about the other two themes, Love and Joy.

St Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal

St Patrick’s School community members have always been very generous in their support of the St Vincent De Paul Society’s Christmas Appeal. The St Vincent De Paul Charity is once again asking our community to support their Annual Christmas Appeal. This year St Vinnies are asking for donations of Christmas food, items or Christmas gifts for children or adults.

· If you would like to donate a gift, please don’t wrap the gift so that the representatives know the suitable age groups to give the gifts to.

· If you would like to donate food, please ensure the food is non-perishable.

Suggested items include: Nibbles like sweets and nuts, Tinned ham and fish, Tinned vegetables, Puddings and mince pies, Longlife Custard, tinned fruit, Sweet and savoury biscuits, Serviettes, tablecloths and decorations, A Christmas shopping bag, New toys or gifts

Please bring your donations to your child’s class by Friday December 5, and we will present them to Sr Catherine, our St Vincent De Paul representative in Week 8.

Thank you in advance for your generosity towards this life-giving charity.

Playgroup, family fun for families with children under 5 years

Playgroup SA has partnered with the Office for the Early Years (Department of Education) to provide free development checks for children aged 12 months to 4 years. The checks provide an opportunity to monitor your child’s development, identify any concerns and celebrate milestones. A development check helps to monitor whether a child is meeting the milestones for their age (such as dressing or talking). Please note this is not a health check.

Please contact Chau Tran 8303 4500 if you would like further information or would like to book in child development check.

VOLUNTEERING

As a Volunteer at St Patrick's, you can get involved in:

  • Parents & Friends Community
  • Canteen - Fridays
  • School Board
  • School Events
  • Excursions - Class support
  • Sports Day

An important role of Volunteer is to promote strong links between the parents and the school but also strong links between families, where members of families really feel that they belong to the school.

An active parent group also ensures the school is well resourced and the grounds are always well maintained.

We are welcoming new parents to come along and Volunteer at the School and join the Parents and Friends Group. Any amount of time is helpful.

Please enquire at the front desk or call on 8303 4500

FINANCE NEWS

School Fees 2025

From the Finance Officer

A friendly reminder to those families, who do not have a direct debit set up, that Term 4 fees are due the last day of Term 4 which was the 11/12/25.

We offer direct debit, BPay, EFTPOS and direct deductions from Centrelink to cater to the changing financial needs of our families at St Patrick’s School. When the direct debit payment option is selected your school fee payment is calculated over the full school year right up until the 31st of December 2024. This means smaller payments are required, making this method the most affordable way to budget for your commitment. Please come into the office or ring me on 83034500 if one of these options would better suit your financial requirements.

School Card 2025 is applied for online. If you haven’t already applied for this year, please arrange as soon as possible as the cut-off date is early November. Instructions on how to do this are available at the front office.

School Card must be applied for each year.

If at any time you are having trouble meeting your school fee commitment, or have any queries, please contact me on 83034500 to discuss this matter.

Kind Regards

Dan Guo (Finance Officer)
