Reception Mid-Year Intake - Free Tuition Terms 3 & 4

At St Patrick’s School, Mansfield Park, we are excited to offer families the opportunity to begin their child’s school journey with our Mid-Year Reception Intake.

Free Tuition for Terms 3 and 4

Reception students who enrol in the mid-year intake will receive free tuition for Terms 3 and 4.

This initiative, supported by the South Australian Commission for Catholic Schools (SACCS), is designed to ease financial pressures on families.

The free intake includes:

• Tuition fees

• Compulsory charges

It excludes:

• Uniforms

• Stationery

• Extra-curricular costs

Who is Eligible?

Our mid-year intake is available for children who turn five between 1 May and 31 October. Students commencing in Term 3 will engage in 18 months of Reception learning before transitioning to Year 1, giving them additional time to build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, confidence and wellbeing.

Our decision to offer a Mid-Year Reception Intake is supported by research highlighting the long-term benefits of high-quality early learning experiences.

Intakes and ages for starting school

While children relocating from another school can start at any time, Catholic schools accept children starting their first year of school twice a year. This first year is called ‘Reception’.

Term 1 Intake: 

For children who turn 5 years old on or before April 30 of that year. These children will spend four terms in Reception.

Term 3 Intake: 

For children who turn 5 years old after April 30 and before October 31. 

These children will spend six terms in Reception. 

Children whose birthday falls between 1st November and 31st December will commence school in Term 1 of the following year.
