FROM THE LEADERSHIP TEAM

From the Principal

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Community Members

It has been wonderful to meet many of you and the yard during school pick-ups and drop-offs and at our School Disco on 24 October. This event was a true highlight for our students, made possible by our incredible staff and the Parents and Friends team, who ensured it was a fun, happy, and well-organised event.

A heartfelt thank you to the many volunteers who supported St Patrick’s in facilitating this opportunity for our children. Your time and effort helped create a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. The students had an amazing time dancing and celebrating together, and we truly appreciate the families who joined us and supported this special event.

2026 Strategic Directions and Planning

On Friday, during our Pupil Free Day, staff explored the 2026 Strategic Directions for our school. This process involved honouring our school’s rich history, reviewing our current learning and school environment, and envisioning what this could look like in the future. It was a valuable opportunity for staff to reflect on the many positive aspects our school offers the community and to look forward with purpose.

We also unpacked our numeracy results, with educators reflecting on their own dispositions towards mathematics and considering what this means for student learning. These conversations will help shape future teaching practices and ensure strong outcomes for all students.

Planning for 2026

Planning for the 2026 school year was well underway. Our projected enrolment is 180 students, and we are preparing for seven mainstream classes and two classes in the Judy Burley Learning Support Centre. Finalising teachers and class structures will be a key focus in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth start to the year

Little Paddy’s Transition to School Program

In Term 4 we launched the Little Paddy’s Transition to School Program. This program will be facilitated all year for the incoming Reception students. Lucy Jakubowski is facilitating this program on Friday mornings from 9:00-11:00am. We currently have 14 new Reception students for 2026.

Staffing News

We are delighted to welcome three new staff members to our school community during Term 4:

· Marketing Manager Lauren Lucas was appointed as our Marketing Manager and will begin her role on 17 November. Lauren’s work focuses on collaborating with the CESA Marketing Team and their appointed consultant to broaden the visibility and promotion of St Patrick’s School.

· Senior Finance Officer Dan Guo commenced as our Senior Finance Officer. Dan is working full time, ensuring strong financial management and support for our school operations.

· Grounds and Maintenance Officer Thomas Hamann joined us as our Grounds and Maintenance Officer. Thomas is working each morning during Term 4, helping to maintain and improve our school environment.

We are excited about the expertise and energy these new team members bring to our school and look forward to the positive impact they will have on our community

Dance Concert Preparations

Term 4 began with a busy and energetic lead-up to our much-anticipated Dance Concert, which will be held on Tuesday, 18 November at 6:30pm at the Woodville Town Hall.

Tickets are available at the Front Office for $12 for adults and $9 for children aged 6-16, with free entry for children under 5.

The theme of the concert is Big Top Bop A Looza, and students are working hard to learn their dance routines, demonstrating enthusiasm and commitment throughout rehearsals.

We encourage families to purchase tickets early to secure their seats and join us for an evening of fun, creativity, and celebration of our students’ talents!

Warm Regards

Catherine O'Dea

EXCITING THINGS ARE HAPPENING:

St Patrick's will be undergoing a facelift that will surprise and create a beautiful impression when passing and entering the school.

Landscape Concept Plans

This term we have been working to develop exciting landscape concept plans for the front of the school. These plans include a new entrance to the school gates, productive garden beds, and a peace shelter designed to create a welcoming and tranquil space for students, families, and visitors. The goal of this project is to enhance the school’s outdoor environment, promote sustainability through gardening, and provide areas for reflection and community connection.

These plans are available for you to view in the front office. This improvement will not only beautify the school grounds but also offer students opportunities for hands-on learning in the garden and a peaceful space to enjoy during breaks.

Check out some images of what's to come.

NATSICC National Assembly 2025

I was invited to attend the NATSICC National Assembly this year, thanks to the generous support of CESA and St Patrick’s School. The Assembly is a gathering of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Catholics, together with those who walk alongside us in faith, to celebrate the unique gifts First Australians bring to our Catholic Church.

It was one of the most amazing and spiritually enriching experiences I’ve ever had. I participated in workshops including The Brisbane RAP Journey, presented by delegates Ravina Waldren, Bernice Fischer, and Joni McCourt; Truth Telling in the Kimberley and Darling Downs with Dr Mark Copland; and a Weaving Workshop led by contemporary Aboriginal artist and weaver, Jacqueline Lewis, which beautifully reflected the interconnectedness of culture, faith, and community.

In Yarning Circles, used by First Nations Peoples for millennia, we came together to share thoughts, listen deeply, and reflect on the previous sessions.

The Assembly featured many inspiring speakers, including Kelly Paget and Dr Trudy Dantis, who shared insights into the Synod on Synodality, and acclaimed journalist Stan Grant, who reflected on the Assembly theme, Pilgrims of Hope, inviting us to consider faith, identity, and the journey toward a more just and compassionate Church.

The theme Pilgrims of Hope deeply resonated with me. It reminded me that as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, our faith journey is one of strength, resilience, and deep spirituality. Walking together in faith and culture, we continue to share hope and healing within our Church and wider community.

St Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal

St Patrick’s School community members have always been very generous in their support of the St Vincent De Paul Society’s Christmas Appeal. The St Vincent De Paul Charity is once again asking our community to support their Annual Christmas Appeal. This year St Vinnies are asking for donations of Christmas food, items or Christmas gifts for children or adults.

· If you would like to donate a gift, please don’t wrap the gift so that the representatives know the suitable age groups to give the gifts to.

· If you would like to donate food, please ensure the food is non-perishable.

Suggested items include: Nibbles like sweets and nuts, Tinned ham and fish, Tinned vegetables, Puddings and mince pies, Longlife Custard, tinned fruit, Sweet and savoury biscuits, Serviettes, tablecloths and decorations, A Christmas shopping bag, New toys or gifts

Playgroup, family fun for families with children under 5 years

Playgroup SA has partnered with the Office for the Early Years (Department of Education) to provide free development checks for children aged 12 months to 4 years. The checks provide an opportunity to monitor your child’s development, identify any concerns and celebrate milestones. A development check helps to monitor whether a child is meeting the milestones for their age (such as dressing or talking). Please note this is not a health check.

Please contact Chau Tran 8303 4500 if you would like further information or would like to book in child development check.

VOLUNTEERING

As a Volunteer at St Patrick's, you can get involved in:

  • Parents & Friends Community
  • Canteen - Fridays
  • School Board
  • School Events
  • Excursions - Class support
  • Sports Day

An important role of Volunteer is to promote strong links between the parents and the school but also strong links between families, where members of families really feel that they belong to the school.

We are welcoming new parents to come along and Volunteer at the School and join the Parents and Friends Group. Any amount of time is helpful.

FINANCE NEWS

School Fees 2025

From the Finance Officer

A friendly reminder to those families, who do not have a direct debit set up, that Term 4 fees are due the last day of Term 4 which was the 11/12/25.

We offer direct debit, BPay, EFTPOS and direct deductions from Centrelink to cater to the changing financial needs of our families at St Patrick’s School. When the direct debit payment option is selected your school fee payment is calculated over the full school year right up until the 31st of December 2024. This means smaller payments are required, making this method the most affordable way to budget for your commitment. Please come into the office or ring me on 83034500 if one of these options would better suit your financial requirements.

School Card 2025 is applied for online. If you haven’t already applied for this year, please arrange as soon as possible as the cut-off date is early November. Instructions on how to do this are available at the front office.

School Card must be applied for each year.

If at any time you are having trouble meeting your school fee commitment, or have any queries, please contact me on 83034500 to discuss this matter.

Kind Regards

Dan Guo (Finance Officer)
