FROM THE LEADERSHIP TEAM

From the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers

Happy Father’s Day to all our fathers, grandfathers and caregivers. I hope that you all were made to feel very special and spent some time with your children on the weekend.

I am honoured to be chosen to work alongside such dedicated and passionate staff who support student learning and wellbeing. It has been wonderful to meet the students of St Patrick’s who bring so much joy and energy to the school each day. Already I have witnessed many moments of curiosity, kindness and growth.

Whilst this is my first appointment as a Principal in Catholic Education, I have been a principal in Department for Education schools for the past 12 years, most recently at Christies Beach Primary School. I have been fortunate to have worked in various roles in a variety of educational settings across South Australia. Most of my schooling was in catholic schools, including St James School in Jamestown and Cabra Dominican College. I am looking forward to once again being able to share my faith in a catholic school community.

Thank you for the warm welcome that I have received thus far at St Patrick’s. Please feel free to drop by, stop me in the yard to introduce yourself. I am looking forward to learning and working with students, staff, parents, caregivers and parish community members to guide St Patrick's school into the future.

Kind regards

Catherine O’Dea

From the APRIM

APRIM Report

Welcome to Mrs Catherine O’Dea

Last week, we were delighted to welcome Mrs Catherine O’Dea to our staff team. Catherine has settled in well to our staff and school community. She brings a vast array of experiences to St Patrick’s School and we look forward to working with her in the future.

Religious Literacy Assessment Tool (RELAT)

Over the next two weeks our Year 4 students will participate in the Religious Literacy Assessment (RELAT). The RELAT is a multiple-choice test that assesses the students’ knowledge and understanding of the Crossways learning the students have experienced since Reception. Students who have joined our school community more recently will still participate in the assessment and their results, along with other Year 4 students, will inform us of areas to focus on for future teaching and learning in Religious Education.

Sacramental Celebrations

This coming weekend our final students will receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist. It has been a lovely time for students, their families and staff to come together and celebrate this milestone in the students spiritual life.

Congratulations

Gerard, Amanda, Mmachukwu, Brea, Alyssa, Jenny Mae and Duyen.

 ESO

Appreciation Week

Last week we celebrated ESO Week, recognising the invaluable support our Education Support Officers provide in classrooms. Students wrote heartfelt notes expressing their gratitude and appreciation. Thank you to all ESOs for your dedication and care—you make a profound difference every day.

Book Week Celebrations

Book Week was a joyful success! Students embraced the spirit of literature by dressing up as their favourite characters and participating in a lively parade. It was especially heartening to see a large number of parents join us for the parade, adding to the festive atmosphere and strengthening our school-family connection. The creativity and enthusiasm on display highlighted our community’s love for storytelling and imagination.

5/6 SH

5/6SH News

In English, our class has been reading War Horse, a touching and sometimes sad story that has sparked deep discussions about courage, friendship, and resilience. In Maths, we have been exploring rotational symmetry and reflection by creating our own “symmetry cities.” Our HASS unit has focused on economics, where students are learning about choices, needs, and wants in everyday life. In Art, we have been designing persuasive advertisements, blending creativity with persuasive techniques to capture attention.

Playgroup, family fun for families with children under 5 years

Playgroup SA has partnered with the Office for the Early Years (Department of Education) to provide free development checks for children aged 12 months to 4 years. The checks provide an opportunity to monitor your child’s development, identify any concerns and celebrate milestones. A development check helps to monitor whether a child is meeting the milestones for their age (such as dressing or talking). Please note this is not a health check.

Please contact Chau Tran 8303 4500 if you would like further information or would like to book in child development check.

VOLUNTEERING

As a Volunteer at St Patrick's, you can get involved in:

  • Parents & Friends Community
  • Canteen - Fridays
  • School Board
  • School Events

We are welcoming new parents to come along and Volunteer at the School and join the Parents and Friends Group. Any amount of time is helpful.

FINANCE NEWS

School Fees 2025

From the Finance Officer

A friendly reminder to those families, who do not have a direct debit set up, that Term 2 fees were due the last day of Term 2 which was the 4/7/25.

We offer direct debit, BPay, EFTPOS and direct deductions from Centrelink to cater to the changing financial needs of our families at St Patrick’s School. When the direct debit payment option is selected your school fee payment is calculated over the full school year right up until the 31st of December 2024. This means smaller payments are required, making this method the most affordable way to budget for your commitment. Please come into the office or ring me on 83034500 if one of these options would better suit your financial requirements.

School Card 2025 is applied for online. If you haven’t already applied for this year, please arrange as soon as possible as the cut-off date is early November. Instructions on how to do this are available at the front office.

School Card must be applied for each year.

If at any time you are having trouble meeting your school fee commitment, or have any queries, please contact me on 83034500 to discuss this matter.
