FROM THE LEADERSHIP TEAM

From the Principal

Dear Parents/Caregivers

A Warm Welcome to Term 3 at St Patrick’s!

This term, we’re delighted to welcome new students, families, and staff to the St Patrick’s School community.

A special welcome to our eleven Mid-Year Reception students— Elijah, Joshua, Marion, Mimi, Prisha, Kayden, Wasabe, Jade, Arya, Kannisha and Kinnisha as they begin their exciting learning journey with us. They have joined Ms Stavropoulos’ class.

We also extend a warm welcome to new students joining other year levels:

  • Kanav (Year 2)
  • Umreen (Year 1

We look forward to building strong and lasting connections with each of you as part of our vibrant school community.

Finally, we’re pleased to introduce two new staff members:

  • Ms Anna Carcich, who will be joining the Judy Burley Learning Support Centre team.
  • Ms Myle Cao, who will be in Year 3/4JB while Ms Johnson resumes her PE role.

Exciting Leadership News

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Catherine O’Dea as the new Principal of St Patrick’s School. Catherine will officially join our community in Week 7, and we extend a warm welcome as she prepares to take on this important leadership role.

Last week, Catherine visited our school to introduce herself to staff and students, offering a wonderful opportunity to begin building connections within our community.

We look forward to the vision, experience, and energy she will bring as she leads St Patrick’s into its next exciting chapter.

Parent Feedback Opportunity - LLL Surveys

Each year, Catholic Education South Australia (CESA) invites all Catholic schools to participate in the LLL Surveys, which gather valuable feedback from staff, students, and parents.

As a parent, this is a meaningful opportunity to share your thoughts on our school’s performance. The survey is quick and easy, and all responses are anonymous.

Your feedback will help St Patrick’s:

  • Reflect and self-assess against educational standards
  • Develop targeted plans for improvement
  • Strengthen accountability and build confidence in our school’s effectiveness

Surveys must be completed online by the end of Week 5 - Friday, 22nd August 2025. Details have been sent out on Audiri.

We strongly encourage all parents to take part. If you need assistance accessing or completing the survey, please contact the Front Office, and we’ll be happy to help.

Thank you for supporting our school’s growth and development!

Planning for 2026 - Expression of Interest Forms

As we begin preparations for staffing in 2026, it’s essential that we have accurate student numbers to guide this process. Staffing is a time-intensive task, and its success relies heavily on timely information from families.

Expression of Interest forms for 2026 will be sent home this week. We kindly ask all parents to return these forms by the due date: Friday, 15th August 2025.

Once student numbers are confirmed, we will be able to:

  • Determine staffing requirements
  • Finalise class structures
  • Advertise any staffing vacancies for the coming year

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and will help ensure a smooth and well-planned start to 2026.

Parent/Teacher Conversations - Term 3

We will be offering Parent/Teacher Conversations in Weeks 3 and 4 of this term. These meetings are optional, but they provide a valuable opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher and discuss their progress.

Bookings will be made online, and detailed information was sent home today to guide you through the process.

We encourage families to take advantage of this opportunity to strengthen the partnership between home and school.

Moving Beyond “How Was School?”

How many times at the end of the day do you ask your child, “How was school?”—only to be met with a grunt, a shrug, or no answer at all?

As part of our commitment to Clarity and improving student outcomes here at St Patrick’s School, we encourage parents to try asking more targeted questions that spark meaningful conversation and reflection.

Here are 5 powerful questions to ask instead:

  • What did you learn today?
  • How did you do?
  • What did you do if you didn’t understand?
  • How can you improve your learning?
  • What are you most proud of?

These questions can help open up deeper dialogue and give you greater insight into your child’s learning journey. Give them a try—you might be surprised by what you learn!

Catholic School Open Week - You're Invited!

Week 3 marks Catholic School Open Week, and we’re excited to welcome community members to St Patrick’s School to experience our vibrant learning environment firsthand.

Open Morning
Date: Wednesday, 6th August
Time: 9:00am - 11:00am

Visitors will have the opportunity to:

  • Observe Junior classes engaging in Phonology and Writing lessons
  • Watch Senior students in action during their Maths lessons
  • Move freely between classrooms to see a variety of learning experiences across the school

We’ll wrap up the morning with a morning tea near the school hall, offering a chance to connect and reflect on the wonderful learning happening at St Patrick’s.

We look forward to sharing our school with you!

Feast of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop

The Feast Day of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop is a special celebration for our St Patrick’s School community. We’ll begin the day with a joyful Mass to honour her legacy and spirit.

MacKillop Markets
Between recess and lunch, each class will host a stall as part of our vibrant MacKillop Markets. These stalls are not only fun and creative—they also help us raise funds for the MacKillop Today Foundation, which provides vital support to people experiencing disadvantage and marginalisation.

Let’s come together to celebrate, give generously, and live out the values St Mary MacKillop stood for.

All welcome!

In all things love

Mary MacKillop Feast Day

The feast of St Mary MacKillop is an important day for St Patrick’s School. On August 8, the anniversary of her death, we will celebrate St Mary MacKillop with a whole school Mass and our annual Mission Markets. Mary MacKillop along with Julian Tenison Woods founded the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart on March 19, 1866. The Josephite Sisters’ mission was rooted in a commitment to serving the poor and vulnerable, particularly through education. St Mary’s, and the sisters’ good works continue today through many projects of the Mary MacKillop Today organisation. The money raised at our Mission Markets will be donated to help children living in poverty in Australia and around the world receive an education and have better opportunities in life.

Please join us on Friday August 8 as we celebrate St Mary Mackillop and her amazing works.

Wishing everyone a wonderful term.

God bless,

Anne-Marie Platten

ROCK & WATER PROGRAM

Rock and Water Program - Week 2, Term 2

In Week 2 of Term 2, twelve students participated in our inaugural Rock and Water Program. Throughout the sessions, students explored and developed key personal and social skills including:

  • Focus and mindfulness techniques
  • Building resilience and self-confidence
  • Respect for themselves and others
  • Understanding friendship and positive relationships
  • Courage and emotional regulation

They also learned the symbolic meanings of being a "rock" and being "water"—and how to apply these qualities in their daily school life.

A huge thank you and congratulations to Adam, Lily, Amanda, Brea, Sake, Serene, Stanley, Louis, Duyen, Kien, Quan, and Jenny for being our first group to complete the program. You all did an amazing job and should be proud of yourselves!

We look forward to welcoming the next group of students into the Rock and Water Program soon.

Playgroup, family fun for families with children under 5 years

Playgroup SA has partnered with the Office for the Early Years (Department of Education) to provide free development checks for children aged 12 months to 4 years. The checks provide an opportunity to monitor your child’s development, identify any concerns and celebrate milestones. A development check helps to monitor whether a child is meeting the milestones for their age (such as dressing or talking). Please note this is not a health check.

Please contact Chau Tran 8303 4500 if you would like further information or would like to book in child development check.

VOLUNTEERING

As a Volunteer at St Patrick's, you can get involved in:

  • Parents & Friends Community
  • School Board
  • School Events
  • Excursions - Class support
  • Sports Day

An important role of Volunteer is to promote strong links between the parents and the school but also strong links between families, where members of families really feel that they belong to the school.

An active parent group also ensures the school is well resourced and the grounds are always well maintained.

We are welcoming new parents to come along and Volunteer at the School and join the Parents and Friends Group. Any amount of time is helpful.

Please enquire at the front desk or call on 8303 4500

FINANCE NEWS

School Fees 2025

From the Finance Officer

A friendly reminder to those families, who do not have a direct debit set up, that Term 2 fees were due the last day of term 2 which was the 4/7/25.

We offer direct debit, BPay, EFTPOS and direct deductions from Centrelink to cater to the changing financial needs of our families at St Patrick’s School. When the direct debit payment option is selected your school fee payment is calculated over the full school year right up until the 31st of December 2024. This means smaller payments are required, making this method the most affordable way to budget for your commitment. Please come into the office or ring me on 83034500 if one of these options would better suit your financial requirements.

School Card 2025 is applied for online if you haven’t already applied for this year please arrange as soon as possible as the cut-off date is early November. Instructions on how to do this are available at the front office.

School Card must be applied for each year.

If at any time you are having trouble meeting your school fee commitment, or have any queries, please contact me on 83034500 to discuss this matter.
