Dear Parents, Caregivers and Community Members
This week we acknowledge and celebrate Refugee Week, an important opportunity to recognise the strength, courage and resilience of people who have been forced to leave their homes and rebuild their lives in new communities.
At St Patrick’s, we are proud to be a welcoming and inclusive community where diversity is valued and every child and family is respected. Refugee Week reminds us of the importance of compassion, understanding and standing in solidarity with others. It also aligns deeply with our Catholic values of dignity, justice and care for all.
Through classroom discussions and shared experiences, students are encouraged to learn about different cultures, reflect on the stories of others, and consider how we can show kindness and hospitality in our daily lives.
As a community, we continue to walk together in faith and action, supporting one another and celebrating the richness that diversity brings to our school.
On Monday, we were delighted to welcome Dr Neil McGoran, Executive Director of Catholic Education South Australia, to St Patrick’s School. Dr McGoran was very impressed by the friendly and welcoming environment across our school, and it was a wonderful opportunity to share the spirit of our community with him.
Master Planning for the Future
As a school, we are about to commence a master planning process as we look to the future of our buildings and facilities, ensuring they continue to cater for the needs of our students in the years ahead. This process will begin next week and is expected to be concluded by the end of this term. Please keep an eye out for survey links or workshop invitations, as we warmly encourage you to take part and ensure your voice is heard.
Parents Initiative in Education Grant
Late last term, our school was awarded a Parents Initiative in Education (PIE) Grant from the Office of the Minister for Education, Training and Skills, assessed through Catholic School Parents SA. This grant will be put towards purchasing a translation app for our school, supporting clearer communication with families and helping us to continue building strong partnerships across our wonderfully diverse community. This app will enable families from over 140 different languages to access translation instantly through a QR code. Once the app is available, we encourage all families to look out for the QR code, try the translation tool, and let us know how it supports your communication with the school.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we work together to nurture a welcoming, inclusive and future-focused school community for every child and family at St Patrick’s.
Warm regards,
Catherine O’Dea Principal
