FROM THE LEADERSHIP TEAM

From the Principal - Catherine O'Dea

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Community Members

At St Patrick’s, National Reconciliation Week has been an important time for prayer, learning and reflection. Our students have been exploring our shared histories and deepening their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of this land. This year’s theme, All In, speaks strongly to our call to walk together with humility, respect and hope, and to keep building a community grounded in truth, justice and love.

Our focus on Earth Hour has also provided a valuable opportunity for students to reflect on how we care for God’s creation. Through classroom learning and everyday action, they are coming to understand that small choices can make a meaningful difference. In simple but important ways, our children are learning that stewardship is part of living our faith and showing care for others, both now and into the future.

Across the school, these experiences are helping our students grow in knowledge, faith and understanding. Through discussion, inquiry, prayer and reflection, they are learning to think deeply, respond with compassion and act with purpose. It is encouraging to see our students living our values as respectful, responsible and resilient learners who are growing into young people of empathy, courage and hope.

Thank you for the support you continue to give our school community. In partnership with families, we are nurturing children who are growing in faith and learning, and who are learning to walk gently, act justly and care deeply for others.

Enjoy the winter rain.

Warm regards

Catherine

Every Day Counts at St Patrick's

Every Day Counts at St Patrick's

At St Patrick’s, we understand that there are times when getting to school on time can be challenging. However, frequent lateness or early departures can have a significant impact on a child’s learning and wellbeing. Arriving late can mean missing important morning routines, valuable learning time, and opportunities to connect with classmates.

Building strong attendance habits is a shared responsibility between home and school. By working together, we can help children develop a sense of commitment, responsibility, and pride in being present and ready to learn each day.

Establishing a calm and organised morning routine can make all the difference. Preparing the night before: laying out uniforms, packing school bags, and planning breakfast - helps reduce stress and supports a positive start to the day.

Thank you for your ongoing support in ensuring every child at St Patrick’s is set up for success - every day matters.

From the APRIM - Rachael DeTullio

National Reconciliation Week at Our School

During National Reconciliation Week, students across all year levels engaged in meaningful learning experiences to deepen their understanding of reconciliation, respect, and the histories and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

On Friday, we came together as a whole school community for a special assembly to share our learning.

  • Reception, R/1 and Year 2 students beautifully performed the Ancient Legacy song, showcasing their growing appreciation for First Nations culture through music.
  • Year 3 students created a video sharing their ideas about what reconciliation means to them, offering thoughtful and inspiring perspectives.
  • Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 students presented a moving Sorry Poem, reflecting on the importance of acknowledging the past and working together towards healing.
  • Year 4/5 students shared a video explaining the 2026 theme, “All In for Reconciliation,” highlighting the importance of everyone playing a role in creating change.

The assembly was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the learning taking place across the school and to reflect on the significance of reconciliation in our community.

We also proudly announced the winners of our Reconciliation Week colouring-in competition. Congratulations to all students who participated—your creativity and effort were fantastic!

Thank you to our staff and students for their commitment to making National Reconciliation Week a meaningful and engaging experience for all.

A Special Visit from Metropolitan Volodymyr

Recently, Christopher and Chloe Papa were proud to be part of a significant and historic occasion within the Ukrainian Catholic community. This marked the first-ever visit of Metropolitan Volodymyr to Australia, making it a very special time for Ukrainian parishes across the country.

During his visit, Metropolitan Volodymyr chose to begin his time in Australia by visiting the Ukrainian communities here in Adelaide.

This visit was a unique opportunity for local parishioners to come together, celebrate their faith, and be part of a historic event for the Church in Australia.

SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

EARTH HOUR

Our Year 5/6 leaders have done a wonderful job visiting classrooms to promote Earth Hour and share the importance of caring for our planet.  It is a meaningful way for students to see that even small actions can make a difference for our environment. We are very proud of our student leaders for showing such initiative and inspiring others across the school.

As we are a part of a Catholic School we believe: God created the Earth and everything in it.

We are called to care for and protect creation "Care for our Common Home"

This Thursday 4th June 2.30pm - 3.00pm
