FROM THE LEADERSHIP TEAM

From the Principal - Catherine O'Dea

Dear Parents, Caregivers, and Community Members

It is hard to believe we have already come to the end of another busy and rewarding term. Thank you for your unwavering support of our staff and school as we continue to work together to support each child in striving for excellence in their learning, wellbeing and personal growth.

School reports will be sent home this Wednesday. We encourage all families to take time to read through the report with your child and celebrate their growth, effort and achievements throughout the semester. These conversations are a valuable opportunity to acknowledge progress, identify goals for next term, and remind children that learning is a journey. Thank you for your ongoing support in working together with us to help every child continue to grow as a respectful, responsible and resilient learner.

Community Consultation for Master Planning

As we continue to plan for the future of St Patrick’s School, we are beginning an important community consultation process to support our Master Planning. This process will be facilitated by architects from Detail Studio this Wednesday morning at 10:00am in the Boardroom. This will be an opportunity for families, as well as interested parish and community members, to share their thoughts, hopes and ideas about our school environment and how our spaces can best support learning, wellbeing, connection and growth into the future.

We warmly encourage all families to take part in the community consultation this Wednesday morning, or to share their feedback via the survey. Your voice is an important part of shaping the future direction of our school. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership as we continue walking together towards excellence in all things love.

Vinnies Winter Mission Drive

As part of our commitment to living out our school values and supporting those in need, we are inviting families to contribute to our Vinnies Winter Mission Drive. This is a wonderful opportunity for our school community to show compassion and solidarity with people experiencing hardship during the colder months.

·         Non-perishable food items, such as canned meals, pasta, rice, cereal and long-life milk

Donations can be brought to school and placed in the collection area in our Library.

Thank you for your generosity and for helping our students understand the importance of caring for others, especially during winter.

Apologies for the lateness of our Week 8 Newsletter. As we come to the end of a very full term, we appreciate your understanding and continued support as we share these important updates with our school community.

Wishing you a relaxing winter holiday break with your children.

    Warm regards,

    Catherine O’Dea Principal

    Important Reminders

Comfy Clothes Day - Friday 3rd July

Students are encouraged to wear comfy clothes on Friday, 3rd July (remember school finishes at 12:30pm!) in support of the Vinnie's Winter Appeal. This can include tracksuit pants, hoodies, or an Oodie. Please remember that students must still wear sensible shoes - NO Ugg boots, slippers, or Crocs.

Student Free Day - Monday 20th July

This is a friendly reminder that there is a Student Free Day on Monday 20th July. The first day of term 3 is Tuesday 21st July.

    Open Morning - School Tour

We warmly invite prospective families to attend our next Open Morning on Wednesday 19th August at 9:30am.

This is a wonderful opportunity to visit our school, meet our staff and students, and experience our welcoming community.

    School Uniform

We ask for families’ support in ensuring that students wear the correct school uniform each day. This includes wearing school-approved colours only (Navy Blue).

Non-Uniform items such as Jackets, Jumpers, Skivvies (Long sleeve under garments) and Beanies should all be in our school colours.

    Road Safety

We kindly remind families to take extra care during drop-off and pick-up times.

Please adhere to all parking and traffic guidelines, use designated drop-off zones, and avoid double parking to ensure the safety of all students.

Encouraging children to exit the car on the curb side and supervising them closely near roads helps create a safe environment for everyone in our community.

Each class has created a colourful Carnevale mask during Italian lessons and will proudly parade their work for families and friends to enjoy.

Come along and admire the students' amazing creations as we celebrate Italian culture, creativity and fun! We look forward to seeing you there.

    SCHOOL ACTIVITY

      St Patrick’s Takes Global Action

      by Jesslyn Le

Imagine a world where over 1 billion people across nearly 200 countries drop everything to focus on one single goal? Protecting our planet. That is the incredible reality of Earth Day. It is a massive global movement dedicated to protecting nature, stopping pollution, and teaching communities how to look after the environment. At St Patrick’s, we are exploring Earth Day every day because protecting nature is not just a one-day event, it is a continuous, full-time responsibility. As Year 6 students, we believe that by looking after our immediate environment every single day, we can show true leadership and care for the world we will inherit.

      The shutdown:

To show that St Patrick’s can make a real difference, our school took immediate action last week through a whole-school energy challenge. At exactly 2:30 pm last Thursday, we switched off electricity across the school by turning off electronics, interactive whiteboards, air-conditioners and lights. In total, power was turned off in 15 rooms, including 8 classrooms, 2 intervention rooms and the main office. This collective action helped reduce our school’s energy use for the afternoon, cut unnecessary electricity waste, protect the climate and lower our daily power costs. Earth Day is also part of a much larger global movement, with around 1.25 billion people participating across 195 countries. This means about 1 in every 8 people worldwide takes action to support the environment, making Earth Day the largest secular event in human history. Around the world, communities mark the day by cleaning up local areas, reducing waste and planting millions of trees to help protect our atmosphere.

      How it impacts on us:

Taking action for Earth Day benefits more than the wider world, it also builds pride, responsibility and leadership within our school community. It encourages us to move from simply using resources to thinking carefully about how we can protect them. By leading this initiative, we can show younger students that real leadership is shown through action, inspire everyone to care for our school grounds, and strengthen our sense of school spirit. This effort can also help our school financially. By reducing electricity use and cutting down on single-use waste, we can lower power and rubbish disposal costs. These savings can then be used to support learning through improved playground equipment, updated technology, better sports resources and other opportunities that make St Patrick’s an even better place to learn.

      Conclusion:

Earth Day reminds us that the planet does not belong to us; we belong to it, and it is our responsibility to protect it. At St Patrick’s, we have the chance to show that students do not need to wait until they are adults to make a difference. By taking practical action now, we are doing more than cleaning our yard or saving electricity. We are helping our school become a strong example of environmental care and hope. Every small choice can create a ripple effect beyond our classrooms, contributing to a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future. Together, the students of St Patrick’s can show that while individual actions may seem small, our collective impact can be powerful.

      FINANCE NEWS

      From the Finance Officer

We offer direct debit, BPay, EFTPOS and direct deductions from Centrelink to cater to the changing financial needs of our families at St Patrick’s School. Please come into the office or ring me on (08) 8303 4500 if one of these options would better suit your financial requirements.

School Card is applied for online. If you haven’t already applied for this year, please arrange as soon as possible as the cut-off date is early November. Instructions on how to do this are available at the front office.

School Card must be applied for each year.

If at any time you are having trouble meeting your school fee commitment, or have any queries, please contact me on 83034500 to discuss this matter.
